Veggies - good for your wallet too!

We all know that living in London is expensive, but lately I have been living in struggle town, completely broke. Of course, fate picks the perfect time to run out of all my skincare. I'm not the kind of girl that likes debt, I dont even own a credit card, so even though it pained my soul I had to look for cheaper skincare products until I can afford my usual.

I decided to try The Body Shop. I have used their products before and been happy with them and I knew that they were having a sale. Look what I found....

A Cumber Milk Cleanser, Cucumber Toner and a Carrot Moisturiser for only...£5.40! Each item was £2 each and then if you have a Body Shop rewards card it give you and extra 10% off.  This pleased my inner cheaponista no end. I was thrilled. All three products have good reviews so I am really looking forward to trying them. I will let you know how I go. Seriously, £5.40...awesome!

Attitude of Gratitude

I was looking at the TOMS Organic Facebook page and I saw this little quote. Sometimes we just need to stop and think about how lucky we are. We may not have everything we want, or life may not have turned out as we planned so far, but we do have more than many others.  Instead of  looking at the things we don't have, we should spend more time counting our blessings. We all need to develop a greater 'Attitude of Gratitude!'

Liz Earle Event

I've never tried Liz Earle but have heard great things about their products. When I saw that they were having an event at their London flagship store I jumped at the chance. The purpose of the event was to launch their Capsule Colour Collection.

The store was beautiful. It had a light, clean, airy feeling. A great environment to try the products while nibbling on some yummy canapés. Liz looking radiant and a great advertisement for her brand, gave a little intro about what inspired their make up range. Jane, the International Make Up Artist for Liz Earle demonstrated a simple, fresh, everyday look, while telling us how the products were developed and letting us into the secret little tricks and tips. Oh how I wish Jane could do my face everyday!

My Purchases:

1. Light Reflecting Concealer - Fabulous as a highlighter. A face lift in a pen. What more could you want?
2. Lash Care Intensifying Mascara Base - Creamy base to make the lashes look thicker and longer. It goes on white but dries clear, while moisturising and nourishing the lashes.

The fab goodie bag also meant I got to try the Black Eye Pencil, the Lash Definition Smudgeproof Mascara (which I am wearing today and I LOVE it!) and the Skin Repair Moisturiser. It can also be used as a brow gel.

I was very impressed by the Capsule Collection. It is very user friendly and you don't need to have amazing skills to achieve a polished look.  It's make up made easy, and it shows off you, but a better you!

My next purchase? Nectar Cream Blush!

Who's 'That Girl'....?

Whenever I see the little bottle on my drawers, I always think of the theme song to New Girl, 'Who's that girl...it's Jess'.That show is hilarious!

I got a a deluxe sample of Benefits 'That Girl' in the July Glamour Magazine and I decided to do a blog about it because I was so surprised. I have always thought that Benefits packaging was so cute but I haven't really valued their quality,I had always thought of it sort of like play make up. After trying this sample, I stand corrected. My make up stays put all day. It's light, creamy, smooth and smells great.  The light reflecting particles give the skin a nice healthy glow and at the moment they have cute London packaging. I will definitely be purchasing the full Size product once my current Primer runs out.

Happy Anniversary to Me!

Today is mine and Mr Jensens 6 month anniversary of living in London. I can't believe how time has flown. London is a beautiful place and we have been blessed to meet some wonderful friends who make being away from friends and family a little easier.

I also love London because of its shopping, with cheaper make up and a much wider variety of clothing stores. I have to admit I do love clothes but I am not muh of a shopper, but let me loose in a make up store or beauty hall and I am a goner!

Here's to the rain, the cold, the jam packed underground, the West End, great food and diverse culture.

London we LOVE you! xx

NARS SKIN - Hydrating Freshening Lotion

Last week I attended a NARS Masterclass at Selfridges London with NARS lead stylist Jane Richardson. I hadn't been to a masterclass before and was super excited! I am delighted to say, it did not disappoint.  The texture of the make up is beautiful and the quality of the pigment fabulous. We also went home with a great little goodie bag and a cupcake from Cake Boy (which I ate before I remembered to take a photo!, it was delicious... oops).

L to R: Make up Removing Water, nail polish in Yoshiwara, Orgasm blush and Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser.

What I really enjoyed were the tips Jane gave while she was applying the make up. My favourite was "skin care is one of the most important steps of make up application. Good skincare will make for better make up." I am guilty at times of being lazy when it comes to skincare, and you will be mortified to know that as of late I have been using my husbands facial exfoliant (gasp)! BUT...I have mended my ways with a great product that I picked up at the masterclass...NARS Hydrating Freshening Lotion! Not many people know that NARS skincare is specially formulated by Shisedo.

What is supposed to do:

"Instantly promotes hydration and renewal. Essential moisture is enhanced with Active Phytoseed Complex while Grape Seed Oil and Aloe add nourishing and soothing benefits. Exfoliating properties help revitalize and gently smooth away dullness to reveal brighter, more luminous skin."

The lotion is very gentle and can be used day and night. It can even be used on the lips and eyes. For a lazy skincare girl like me this is a great product. After a few uses my skin was noticeably brighter, clearer and more hydrated. I love it!

Will I buy it again?  It's not cheap but you use so little and at 200ml it is a large bottle. I would definitely repurchase this product.

Has anyone else tried this product? I would love to know what you thought of it.

Every story has a beginning...

I wasn't always a girly girl and in some ways I am still not. Growing up with only brothers didn't really help my cause but I am glad to say I have learned to love the fun things in life, the things that we as women get to indulge in like hair, make up, perfume, clothes, flowers, baking yummy treats and all things frilly and pretty. This blog will include all of the those. I am a girl that believes in the beauty of the individual and as a Make Up Artist that is what I have based my work on. I hope you enjoy as I blog about my little 'light bulb' moments and things that I love.
